What I was trying to do
This is the only frame I have shot that I actually feel is cinematic. A look I love seeing but remains elusive to me. Billy D is especially good at it. Also as far as the assignment goes, i'm shooting through a rain spattered car window and we all know that sometimes when shooting in the rain you can't even tell it's raining. But with the rain spatter on the window the rainy vibe really comes through. I selected this photo because it makes me feel something whereas my other options do not. Lumix dmc gf1 with mandler 35mm f2 lens and 2x crop factor.
What worked
The haze around the umbrella, sharpish baseball hat, cool glow of the barbershop sign.
What I'd do differently
There was a man walking in the rain with no umbrella and looking not very put together. I wanted to get them both in the frame because I thought it was more of a story about the man who just walks out the door, and the stylish lady who planned a rainy outing. Also it was underexposed.
