Intent

Behind the frame

What I was trying to do:: I was trying to capture a moment of stillness during a frenetic classic car show in my village. I really liked the contrast between the young woman and the banner representing a different era altogether. The clouds reflecting on the windscreen added a surreal, dreamlike quality that I liked.

Hi Bob. This ones a keeper as they say. What would you say has changed in the way you have shot for the assignments over the years, if at all that is?

Thanks so much! I think it works to have the assignment theme in the back of my mind when I go out shooting rather than always just going out without any idea of what I'm going to photograph that day (although I like to do that too!). On the other hand, as the deadline approaches and I haven't got anything I like for that month's theme I can get very frustrated with myself for not seeing anything that fits it and maybe that can alter the way I look for an image! However, if it was easy to get a "banger" every time it wouldn't be a challenge in the first place - that's why I love photography, we can all take perfectly acceptable photographs most days but capturing one you really love is much rarer, it's what keeps going back for more.
