Intent
Behind the frame
- What I was trying to do:
- I was photographing a No Kings protest and I was looking for things that seemed non typical for protest. With all the protesting at street level, I happened to look up at a couple in a hotel pool with a glass wall and quickly changed lenses to my longest available (90mm) to capture the image. It was like 2 separate worlds colliding.
- What worked:
- It worked out the way I intended - the framing with the casual couple enjoying pool time above a protest. I wanted there to be evidence of a protest, but I wanted the pool to be primary.
- What I'd do differently:
- A longer lens would have been great.

The timing here is excellent, with the bullhorn and raised fist. A bizarre and fitting juxtaposition of the vibe in the USA right now. The party rages on despite the injustice.
