Behind the frame
- What I was trying to do:
- To contrast the violent smash in the glass with a mundane moment inside the café to create an ordinary scene made strange.
- What worked:
- Juxtaposition of the violent smash in an otherwise quiet, quotidian scene. The loud "Free" text alongside the obscuration of the figure perhaps adds a layer of irony with a narrative of urban isolation.
- What I'd do differently:
- Framing again without distracting foreground elements, which pull a bit of attention. Being more patient and waiting for for a gesture from the subject.
