What I was trying to do
To be honest, this photo was taken within a week or so of my picking up a camera for the first time, so I had no idea WHAT I was doing -- I just noticed the sheer amount of blue and snapped off this quick photo before walking on.
What worked
I was really happy with the colours and the parallel lines. It was Fred Herzog's work that initially got me interested in photography, and this man looks like he could have walked right out of one of Herzog's 60s or 70s photos. Despite being a 2024 photo, it feels like it's from another era, and I love it because of that. This was one of the photos that gave me the confidence to continue -- most of my shots from this time were not great, I was figuring things out and shooting a LOT of garbage.
What I'd do differently
I might've worked the scene a little more. I think I took two photos and moved on because I was too anxious about shooting people. I also keep going back and forth on the smudges on the glass -- in the end I opted to leave them in, but catch me on another day and I might remove them.
