What I was trying to do

I was sitting next to a window in a cafe in Zurich. This gentleman sat right in front of me — almost too close, if not for the glass. The colour contrast I couldn't resist: his head, almost orange in the sunlight and the stunning blue hat above it.

What worked

I don't think I would be able to take the shot that close, if not the glass. The barrier that worked for my advantage.
