What I was trying to do
I've been shooting a lot of ladders recently as I like the idea of elevating everyday objects and mundane scenes through photography. Here, I was drawn to the texture and muted, earthy colors of both the ladder and the room. I tried capturing it in a diorama-like way, as if the ladder was an exhibit.
What worked
I think the black doormat adds a nice contrast, both in terms of color and composition. Including the edge of the window and the storefront's typography gives context and helps achieve the "exhibit" look. The shadow in the top right corner echoes the shape of the ladder, which was a lucky bonus.
What I'd do differently
It might have been interesting to return to this scene at a different time of day and potentially catch some reflections.
