What I was trying to do
I was walking past a massage place in Bangkok and liked how many layers of glass were happening at once. In the foreground, there were fish tanks for foot treatments, while behind them, through the shop window, people were getting massages. I wanted to frame those little worlds together — the street, the aquarium glass, and the massage room behind the storefront.
What worked
The two layers of glass ended up doing most of the work. The blue light from the fish tanks pulls you in first, then your eye moves past the man bending over the tank and into the massage scene behind the window. I like that everyone feels separated, almost in their own private aquarium, even though it is all happening right on the sidewalk.
What I'd do differently
I would probably wait a little longer for a cleaner gesture or a slightly better separation between the man in the foreground and the people inside. There is a lot going on in the frame, so with another few minutes I might have tried to simplify the composition without losing the layered feeling.
