What I was trying to do

I can’t think of a best photo of mine. But this one comes to mind as one I love because of the colors, timing with the bird in the background and the flags and arms mimicking the wings of the bird. I like the lighting as well as I feel like the silhouette keeps the focus on the colors of the flags and the sense of freedom in the image.

What worked

This was shot at my first Pride when I moved to NYC a few years ago. I like the gestures/flags mimicking the bird in the sky. Love the focus of the colors. Love the sense of freedom and movement in the context of Pride in NYC.

What I'd do differently

I just this very quickly with a 40mm lens as it was happening, in the moment I didn’t even noticed the bird. Perhaps if it was a bit wider I would’ve liked it more.
