I walked into this scene completely by chance, nothing posed, nothing arranged. The light was doing something unusual, and the scene was just there waiting. The woman on the bench gave it scale without breaking the quiet feeling of it. It felt very eerie and in black and white this feeling comes through in a way colour would only dilute.
What worked:
The light and shadow, her face hidden, the geometry of the setting.
What I'd do differently:
I would have stayed with it longer, tried a few other angles, but it was one of those moments that shifts fast, she turned, people moved in, and the atmosphere changed.

Love the minimalist contrast here and also the total anonymity of the lady.

Love this. Simple, not hard to photographs, but great use of monochrome. Light is beautiful of course, but the one figure and the framing (leading the viewer to look up and down) is effective.
