Intent
Behind the frame
- What I was trying to do:
- This was taken during a short bit of time to myself while travelling in Warsaw. A photographer that I respected, Om Malik, had recently died and he was in my mind while exploring how light was falling across the city. I stopped, here, and was captured by the stairway of light. I wanted to make an image of a figure passing out of the frame, as a kind of homage to Om’s minimalist style while using some of my own visual grammar. While it’s very much my own photo each time I see it I’m positively reminded of Om and the influence he’s had on how I think about photography as an art form,
