Behind the frame
What I was trying to do:
That day, I was photographing a parade in Oviedo for the newspaper. Surrounded by crowds, noise and constant movement, I found myself looking beyond the event itself. Sometimes, you have to forget about what the newspaper expects from you and allow yourself to look for something else — those small, unexpected moments that exist somewhere outside the main story.
And there they were: these women, watching the parade from different heights as it passed below. What caught my attention was the visual relationship between the statue and the young woman leaning against it, casually playing with her hair, as well as the contrast between the two women in the foreground — one smiling, the other looking a little more stern. All these small details came together in a scene that caught my eye amid the chaos of the parade.
