Behind the frame
What I was trying to do:
It was instinctual to take a picture of a crying baby, when a baby cries things happen. I noticed him straight away and took a shot from the hip, I hadn't initially noticed the people in the background looking but paired with the dog leashes all around (I was at a dog show) I feel the image is framed in a strange but organic fashion. This image was taken in May 2025.
What worked:
I think the layers in the image work well, I find the dog owners frame the image and the leashes can even help with leading the eye into the frame. I think this is a successful attempt at a busy crowd shot.
What I'd do differently:
I have just signed up to Framelines and I am away very soon so unfortunately so I haven't have the chance to get out this month for an image so I am submitting an archive image. My main goal is to get out for the submissions and be purposeful with my street work so that is what I will change for my next submission. For this particular shot I did overexpose a bit, I misjudged how harsh the overcast light was and that did lead to some slightly blinding whites in this image, I think mainly exposure is what I'd want to improve here but also my aperture, the background isn't as sharp as it could have been but expressions are still captured so it's not a total loss.
