Intent
Behind the frame
- What I was trying to do:
- The subject, it’s Macclesfield. A once prosperously rich industrial town forged by the 19th century silk mills and canal links. Now an eclectic stewing pot of generational poverty and artisan coffee. The concept. The foreground showing the confusion of the everyday moment. The multitude of distracting signs posts, directions, information, orders. A mobility scooter, adapting to change, overcoming restrictions and obstacles. Then the mural, an artist looking to the blue sky, big empty and full of ambition and a future.
- What worked:
- I like the overcrowded, messy imagery. It sums up my experience of an evening in Macclesfield.
- What I'd do differently:
- What would I change. I’d have purchased some cheap Pringles from the Mini Mart.
