Behind the frame
- What I was trying to do:
- I was walking past a far-right party protest in Lisbon, Portugal and saw a South-Asian man amongst the protesters moving in the opposite direction — the party is very anti-South-Asian-migration. I don't remember him making eye contact with me when I took the photo, but surprisingly that's how it came out looking. The phrase "Paris in Lisbon" on the historical luxury storefront in the background suggests an irony in how we accept influences from "the West" but not "the East". The two gentlemen enjoying their coffee in the foreground characterizes the public's irreverence to both migrants and politics in general.
