What I was trying to do

The subject's expression seems to fit the frame perfectly, giving off a sense of loneliness, sadness even. He's separated by a couple of layers of glass, providing a physical barrier between the viewer and the subject, paired with lots of empty seats around him, it isolates him even more and emphasises the feeling of loneliness further.
