What I was trying to do

The blurred standing figure behind the mannequins is me, caught in the glass while I was shooting. I wanted the dummies to come across as the real ones. Cropped so that only their legs and shoes are visible, they hold their stance with a kind of certainty, while I'm the only actual person in the frame and I've turned into a blur, barely there. The glass does most of the work: my reflection and the street outside collect across the top until it's hard to tell the window from what lies beyond it. What I was after was the second look, the moment you notice that the photographer is the ghost, and the figures in the shop seem more alive than the one who took the picture.
