Intent
Behind the frame
- What I was trying to do:
- Merchant's Arch, the passage from the Ha'penny Bridge into Temple Bar, which I walk through regularly. I was drawn to the pool of light on the cobbles and the way the arch frames people heading into the bustle beyond.
- What worked:
- The arch frames the scene and the pool of light on the cobbles draws the eye to the figures. The Guinness sign gives the frame a sense of place.
- What I'd do differently:
- I shot this in passing and kept walking. Next time I’d stay and wait for a single person to step into the light, which would give a cleaner subject and a stronger focal point.
