Intent
Behind the frame
- What I was trying to do:
- While waiting for our turn to look around the Grotte Chauvet 2 in Ardèche during a French road trip, I found myself watching people as they entered the space. I wanted to capture the moment they moved into the light, using the contrast between the dark surroundings and the bright walls. Shooting in black and white helped emphasise the shadows, textures and dramatic light, creating a quiet and atmospheric image.
