Behind the frame
What I was trying to do:
I wanted to capture a moment in time where groups of people share the same environment, but are distinctly within their own 'worlds'. The fog really drew me to this image and added a degree of mystery.
What worked:
The fog helped massively and created a negative space, which allowed the players to stand out in the image. Without the fishermen you wouldn't realise it was at the shoreline. Then you get the ideas of the people waiting for the sun to rise and couple checking out something in the murky fog. On high resolution there is also the faint outline of a bird in flight and a Fisherman's hat peakin out from behind the wall. I just like this image, with the spacing between the groups of people.
What I'd do differently:
I took a couple of images from this location. This is my preferred one, but often wondered whether a closer shot might have been good, but then I'm not sure if the story would have changed.
