Behind the frame
- What I was trying to do:
- This image of an older gentleman was captured in Chongquing, China. He was playing board games in a public square with his friends. B&W works here because it causes us to focus on the timeless character of this person. You can clearly see he’s got some miles under his belt, yet his gaze is friendly and welcoming. He’s looking straight at us and seems to be acknowledging what he sees in us. The lack of color strips away distractions and underscores the personal connection.
