Behind the frame
- What I was trying to do:
- I had the pyjama stall at Victoria Market as my first layer because the pastel colours and soft textures were nice. I was waiting for an interesting subject to walk through the frame and these 3 people, 2 of them with fluffy pastel coloured bucket hats with the same textures and tone as the pyjamas just happened to be walking by. I wanted to avoid getting the BRIGHT afternoon cloudy sky (top left corner) in the photo but couldn't do it without losing my composition.
- What worked:
- - The spacing of the subjects with the blue shorts and the mannequin filling the space between pink hat and aqua hat - The composition starting with deep blue t-shirt on the far left and guiding your eye towards pink hat at the far right edge - And I think the colours turned out fantastic! - Separation between the subjects and the background turned out good too, I was worried the colours might drown eachother out.
- What I'd do differently:
- I used a new second hand lens and my lens hood hasn't arrived yet. The lens flare adds a bit of character but I might have been better off without it. Framing could have been better to avoid the overexposed sky, maybe taking the photo from a higher angle, lowering myself, or rotating my camera slightly counter clockwise to also add some action.
