Behind the frame
What I was trying to do:
I wanted to capture the quiet choreography that unfolds in the moments before surgery begins. Every member of the team has a precise role, and together they move with the rhythm of a carefully rehearsed ballet. The sea of blue is more than a colour. It represents sterility, precision and trust, while also serving a practical purpose by reducing visual fatigue under bright operating lights and improving contrast during surgery.
What worked:
The image captured several people performing different tasks at the same moment, conveying the teamwork and concentration that define an operating theatre. The dominance of blue naturally became both the visual subject and the story.
What I'd do differently:
I’d love to capture one of the lighter moments in the operating theatre. Surgeons and nurses often use humour to dissipate the tension in intense situations. A shared laugh between the team would create a striking contrast with the seriousness of surgery.

Reminds me of a 'documentary still' perhaps advertising a TV programme. Would also love to see 'one of the lighter moments' which you mentioned.
