Intent
Behind the frame
- What I was trying to do:
- In honesty; I was trying to stay awake. I had travelled to Amsterdam after an already long work day and arrived with an empty stomach and a severe lack of sleep. Bleary-eyed, I was stood waiting for a bus into the city when I looked up and noticed this highway sign completedly blended in with the sky. And then, I noticed I was smiling. So I popped my coffe on the floor, grabbed the camera and took this. And I still look at it often. Maybe because the shade of blue is that perfect middle line between teal and purple. I also accidentally booted the coffee over, pilling it on the pavement... so the photo had to be worth it.
- What worked:
- The perspective, that shadow beneath and the leading lines really work for me.
- What I'd do differently:
- I'd have made this a series while I was there for a few days. Trying to find more of these signs. For this image specifically, I wish I hadframed higher, getting the black line of shadow to align with the bottom left corner.
