Intent
Behind the frame
- What I was trying to do:
- I was trying to capture a moment of connection between a vendor and an acquaintance last weekend in Washington Square Park in New York. I also wanted to show a bit of the larger context--a bustling afternoon--while not distracting much from the interaction.
- What worked:
- I was fortunate to get this shot while the woman was expressing surprise or delight. Their interaction was framed by a blue umbrella behind them that echoed the blue in the vendor's headband and the faint color in the dress of woman on the right. I had this assignment in mind as I saw this come together.
- What I'd do differently:
- Perhaps if I had moved a bit to the left I could have captured some of the vendor's face while making the blue umbrella a more central anchor to the image.
