Behind the frame
What I was trying to do:
I was on a wander in Bridlington on what felt like the sunniest day of the year so far, I wanted to capture that classic British seaside feel with the vibrant colours, swooping seagulls, fish and chips and ice creams. This image fit the bill perfectly I feel with the blue crumbling walls, blue skies, pesky seagulls and two ladies with their fresh 99 cones! All that was missing was some fish and chips…
What worked:
The composition has good layering with obvious foreground subjects that lead through to plenty to look at in the back ground, I used film for the shot too which I believe just adds that classic touch with its classic colour and grain.
What I'd do differently:
I would of loved to have had the ladies walking towards me instead of away as it feels a little anonymous or disconnected and having them facing me would of provided a bit of engagement however every subject in the frame is looking away so it kind of works in its own way adding an air of what is everyone looking at? why are they all facing that way? Where are they going?
