Intent
Behind the frame
- What I was trying to do:
- I was trying to capture the vibrancy, colour and uniqueness of this ice cream and slush stall in the middle of my local town. Maidstone is not the most beautiful of towns but I wanted to capture the playfulness and yes maybe kitschness of this aspect of it. Also, I loved how the stall holder almost feels as if he is wearing camoflauge to match his display!
- What worked:
- I liked the combination of Summers, Ice Cold, Slush and Snow Cones in the composition. The woman 's hot pink jumper in the background mathced and complimented the colours of the stall and it's owner. Her bag actually says "Hello Cold Days" which struck me as quite funny considering all the hot weather we've had.
- What I'd do differently:
- Maybe I could have waited for the woman to move into the black doorway or for someone to come into the foreground.
