Fave Lens and Camera Combos?
I've rattled on about this a lot but I never get bored of my XT5 and 35mm F2. What are your go to camera / lens combinations?
For over a year my main kit was a LUMIX GX80 and the 20mm 1.7 prime. Even now that I’ve moved full frame setup, I do miss that combo (and am eyeing up the Sony 40mm prime as a result)

For my x-t30, the Fuji 23mm (35mm equivalent?) rarely left the camera.
For my film cameras, I switch between 28mm and 50mm but I am learning towards the wider end. I like to capture context in my scenes.
For the last year and a half, my main kit has been the Q3 43. The lens is amazing,
I have barely removed my Leica 50mm Summilux ASPH from my M10 since I got it a year ago. Too early to tell but it may well be a forever favourite that shoot with for many years to come.
Not going to surprise anyone with this but the M10 + 50mm Summicron Type IV for sure. Perfect size, weight and ergonomics and the summicron rendering is clinically excellent but also loads of character and surprise.
I miss this setup. I currently have the 35 Summilux on my M10R. Would love another 50mm.

How’s your summicron for flaring? The copy I had was really flary in summer. TBH I think I preferred the summarit!
I use the hood on it all the time and don’t notice any flaring. I like the hood for aesthetic points anyway 😅
It might be doing some heavy lifting. I'm hood-phobic so that might be it!
I know L mount isn't as popular as most for stills but I've been loving the new tiny 40mm f2 Lumix came out with. Bringing it to London on Friday for a walkabout. That's if London hasn't all melted by then.

My trusty Sony A7C II and Voigtlander 40mm f2 Septon. Sometimes a TTArtisan 100mm f2.8.
Before I would say Fujifilm x100IV, but now it is the XE-5 with the 23mm 2.0
I love my XT2 + 23MM F1.4R (the OG lens) and sometimes the 27MM F2.8WR :)
I think the X-T2 and the 35mm 1.4, and also I’m using the 23mm 2.8 pancake a lot as well.
Prior to that in my DSLR days the Canon 6D & 50mm 1.4 was a favourite.

M11 and 28 Summicron. Although, I miss my 28 Elmarit.
The high megapixel count of the M11 allows the 28 Summicron to be more forgiving. At high f stops, the zone focus range is wide, providing further forgiveness. The challenge of a 28 (for me) also adds to the experience. At wide open, you can slow down with this lens, and use focus peaking with the M11 to nail more clinical shots.
Lots of argument against the M system for general photography, but I'm personally faster with a manual M system then with my Q3 in the streets. Less to think about in regards to settings and if my auto focus will hit or not.
Personally, I did find the Elmarit to have more character over the Summicron, although I have no basis for this other than my work completed with both. If you were a 50mm shooter, I'd claim to meet in the middle at a 35mm Summilux pre-asph, for both character and forgiveness.

good ol' q3 43. almost every image out of this thing is a banger. still credit Shane's review for getting me onto this one. im surprised how many of us in this thread are 40mm shooters!
I'm happy with the X-T5 and the excellent Viltrox 27mm (40mm FF). The lens is quite heavy but it's also an f/1.2. I have the original Fuji 35mm f/1.4 and that's my second favourite combo.
Currently Lumix S9 and TT Artisan 40mm f2
Previously, it was the Fujifilm XPro 2 and the XF 35mm F2
Urgently I’m really liking my Leica M240 with an old Canon LTM 35mm f2 lens. That combo is giving me some really nice photos, even though 28mm is my preferred focal length.
My (now quite old) X-T30 with a 35mm f1.4 is a good middle(ish) ground between the 18mm f2 and 56 f1.2 I also have. Also an (even older!) X30, with its 28-112 zoom, is good if I need more versatility.
I use the fujifilm X-M5 with the TT Artisan 50mm F2. It’s super small with portrait reach and since it has that stupid flip out screen it makes me shoot more in portrait which turned out nice in my last trip to London.

For the past year, I've been using the Sony AC7 II + 40mm G lens and I really can't complain, super compact, weather sealed. I take it with me everywhere. Although, I'm tempting to get a 28mm lens as a complement to my 40. That look that it gives.... really miss my old Ricoh GR II

Have this camera but with the 25mm! I saw a 20mm pop up locally and was tempted but heard focus is really slow
Its not going win any prizes for speed but it gets the job done and I like the focal length . A good birthday gift with the 42.5 from family in the states.

Doing a lot of x-pro2 with a pancake these days. Or the 35mm F1. 4.
After many years of preferring the 35mm Summicron ASPH I’ve now been shooting with the 50mm Summicron 6-bit. The only thing I miss on the 50 is the focusing tab from the 35.
Hmm… that’s a bit of a difficult question. I’m not sure everyone will agree with what I’m about to say, but so far I haven’t found the perfect “kit” or “combo” yet. I shoot with a Leica M10 (and on that side, everything is perfect—it’s an incredibly well-balanced camera), but when it comes to lenses, I still haven’t found the ideal one. Right now I have an Elmarit 28mm and a Color-Skopar 35mm. Even so, I don’t feel like I’ve fully adapted to either of them. I’ll keep experimenting, but in the meantime, does anyone have any recommendations for 28mm or 35mm lenses?
For 35mm, I used to own the Leica Summilux f1.4 FLE. I loved that lens but could not justify to myself owning such an expensive lens. Voigtlander is a go-to alternative for me and currently use the 35mm Nokton f1.5, and the 28mm f2 Ultron. These are the only lenses I use with my Leica M.
How does the nokton performs compared to the summilux???

They are somewhat difficult to compare because they produce different colours. But in terms of sharpness and other clinically measurable aspects the Voigtlander is a great lens. For more character and cheaper pricepoint try the 35mm f1.4 Nokton MC.
I used to have a canon 5D mark II, and when Canon released their 40mm pancake lens, this was my favorite setup for personal shooting. Not sure there has been a 40mm pancake quite like it since… the M43 equivalent (20mm) from Olympus is bafflingly large, but still the focal length sweet spot for me

I'd never used a 40mm until the 20mm on the Lumix above. You're right about the focal length being a sweet spot.

My favorite combo used to be the Leica M10-R with the Leica Summilux 35mm f1.4 FLE. But I sold that some years ago. Currently trying to make my mind up between a Leica Q3 and M11 with Voigtlander 35mm f1.5 Nokton. Only one can stay…
The last year I mainly shot on the streets with my GX8 or OM-1 combined with the Sigma 56mm f/1.4 (=112mm FF eq.). I also have and had other MFT lenses that might be more 'traditional' for street photography but I always come back to this lens and I really love the pictures made by it and how 'stealth' I can be using it.
I had the Sigma holy trinity for my Sony a6500. The 16mm was my favorite lens until I bought the 56mm. That Sigma set, the Sony Zeiss 55, and the 35mm g (in that order) are the only lenses I ever regretted selling.

Right now - Nikon FM with a 28mm Nikkor lens (the f/3.5). Once winter arrives - back to Zf with a Jon Voight Ultron 28mm.
Saying that, I’ve been travelling a lot past few weeks so go to has been a Sony Rx100.
