Any Ricoh lovers out there?
Currently, I’m shooting with my Ricoh GR3X but I’m considering purchasing the Ricoh GR IV - this way I have both my favorite focal lengths covered and never have to worry about what to bring along on a full day of shooting. Recently, I took my Canon R8 and a 50 mm 1.8 lens into the city for a long day and dealt with wrist pain for several days afterwards. I’ve tried hanging it around my neck and also using a crossbody strap, but I just can’t get comfortable with either of those options. Would love to hear any user experience with the Ricoh GR IV, both good and bad. 🙏🏻
I have the GR3X and I have heard nothing but good things about the GR IV.
From everything I have read and heard from people who have the GR IV, it is only an incremental upgrade, so maybe not worth upgrading to if it is to replace a GR3. But if the reason you want one is to keep both and enjoy both focal lengths then that does sound like a great idea.
I suppose one thing to consider would be could you save yourself some money and just buy the GR3?
I had thought about that, but the battery life on the GR IV is very tempting and the fact that the spin wheel on the back has been swapped out for the old one. I've heard that eventually the spin wheel stops working on lots of Ricoh GR3s.
Yeah, if you have the budget, I think the GR IV has plenty of quality of life upgrades to make it worth it
I just ordered a GRIV used for a steal off the Fred Miranda forums. Looking fwd to using it this weekend!

It’s a photography enthusiast forum, that also has a buy & sell section for used gear. Best deals around, and everyone is very legit. There’s a ratings system so you can see people’s buy/sell history. I’ve gotten some insane deals on there, and wouldn’t buy gear anywhere else anymore.
I see that they ask for a credit card number up front. That makes me a little bit wary. Is this a normal practice on some sites? I've never seen it before.

You have to pay a $20 fee to use the buy and sell forum as a new user. Alternatively you can just post in the photography forums until you get like 50ish posts. Once you have a reputation you dont need it. It's to protect from scammers. Well worth it considering how much you'll save. I got an xe5 with 2 lenses on there brand new for 1500 usd for instance.

I'm sure this was a rare occurrence, but I had a used GRiv for a short amount of time. It had a noticeable coil whine, I think from the IBIS unit. Much more than I think it's supposed to have. Sent it back in the end.
Definitely wouldn't have even noticed that, had you not said something! I couldn't hear it outdoors, let alone while out taking photos. This thing is an absolute beast though, the image quality coming out from this tiny cam is insane.
The copy I had you seriously couldn’t miss the noise. I think some very quiet noise is expected though as ibis units work with electromagnets.
