Full spectrum filter experiments
As some of you know I've experimented with shooting with a full spectrum converted camera lately. Today I received some specialty filters, a KG3 filter which is basically a ND-filter for ir-light, and 550nm longpass filter, which block light with shorter than 550nm wave length. All these shot where taken at iso 200, f8, with shutterspeed adujsted to balance the exposure between the filters. Every filter combination had a custom white balance set an a grey card. 1. KG3 2. No filters 3. 550nm 4. Both KG3 and 550nm
Unfortunately it was overcast today, I would've really liked to know what these filters do to blue skies. So far I really like the KG3, it helps balance visible light and IR which 1) makes the light meter kinda work, and 2) gives more range of tones in the foliage. During overcast day like this it's not much of an issue but during sunny days with no filter foliage extremely easily becomes overexposed, and you get of glow around leaves too. I think the KG3 filter will help a lot with that.
I like the 550 here. To do with how it handles the sky as much as anything.
