Fuji 23 f2 or Fuji 23 f2.8 pancake?
I've been considering getting a 23mm lens for my Fuji XT-5. I own the 35 and 50 f2 lenses and I love them. But I'm thinking the smaller and lighter 23 f2.8 pancake could be the way to go. I've heard the pancake isn't as fast at focusing, but I'm mainly going to be shooting this using zone focusing, so I'm thinking that won't be too much of an issue for me. My main reservations are the cost, if I'm honest. Is it really worth an extra £100 to save 90g in weight? I'd love to hear anyone's thoughts on either lens
I’m waiting for replies because I’m wondering the same thing. I can say though that the 23 f2 is great… just like your 35 and 50 :) The idea of a pancake lens is intriguing!
As a mini update, I went to the Fuji store today and asked to try it on my XT-5 to feel the weight difference. It readily did feel noticeably lighter and of course it is half the depth so much easier getting in and out of a bag.
I’ve decided to buy the pancake. Just looking for deals now
I have had the 23mm f/2 Fujicron for a few years, and I did get a 23mm f/2.8 pancake with an X-E5 purchase. The f/2 was a bit weak (or it has character) at first/2, but at 2.8 it is a tiny bit worse than the pancake. But at f/4, both were pretty much the same.
What eventually got to me on the pancake, and it may or may not be a good enough reason, was the lens cap and hood design. I have come to the realization that slip on caps and me are not a good marriage. I dislike them.
