Anyone for poetry?
Bouncing off from @lloydy110 's post about writing. Looking through my back catalogue for the latest assignment has made me think about how much influences impact me. A while ago I wrote a text about this. It's not meant as a particularly serious piece of writing, and what else am I going to do with it but share it with you all (be kind)... How many images can you identify? :-) PAVED PARADISE (or "Les beaux Cartier") A spinning Christmas tree. A giant tricycle. The child points a gun at me. The rainy windows of Leiter. McCullin’s thousand yard stare. Haas and his early colour. The Rolleiflex of miss Maier. The man jumps over a puddle. “Click”, goes my father’s idol. Chewing gum in Glasgow. The wristwatch of Koudelka. Crouching girl by a green auto. Gueorgui’s crossing, in Shibuya. A picture of Mount Fuji. In front of Mount Fuji. Who else but Noguchi? Climbing a post box. A big blow-up shark. Dogs! Dogs! Dogs! And that wonky haystack. Here in my head at all times. Like Mr Hurn and his postcards. Do they inspire, or paralyse? These cultural gems, this visual littering. Don’t think about it; just get out the house. Don’t think about it; just keep on shooting.
