How much time do you spend shooting?
On an average week (if there is such a thing) how much time do you actually spend - camera in hand - shooting? For me it's about two and a half hours (split into two or three sessions) and I have an energetic dog dragging me around half of that time. How about you?
On an average week, I tend to shoot for about 4 hours on a Friday and then I'll try and get 1 more day in on top of that.
It probably averages to 6-8 hours a week
That's dedication Michael. Will be interesting to see who tops that.
I used to go out 3-5 times a week. For a while I went out much less, but this group and some of my photographer friends have inspired me to go out again.
I have a camera with me whenever I leave the house... even if only the Pentax auto 110. Amounting to about 15 to 20 hours a week
So what would that be in actual camera in hand shooting time?

Hard to tell. I mean the actual shooting is only seconds, right? But being aware and ready is another thing... when I have the camera with me I'm ready... so basically all the time. Really hard to quantify.
I mean I developed 240 Films in the last 12 months... those frames had to come from something

I carry a GRiiiX with me when I'm out on errands and whatnot and look for photos. I don't always end up using it though.. On the weekends I take the X-T5 out with the goal to get some shots I like. In the summer months it can be impossible to stay outside for too long, the sun is just too strong. Early mornings can be ok. Outside of the summer months I can be out on the weekends for 4-5hrs.
So maybe, 5 to 10hrs a week depending whether my camera is melting or not 🌞
It varies. I used to plan a trip and take a camera. Nowadays I tend to see if I’ve a day free and grab a camera. So once a week?
Not enough, I would like to go out twice a week, I’m probably just managing once a week this year, hope fully I will get more time later this year, but since I’ve retired I don’t seem to have as much time for photography as I was hoping for, to many interests, and distractions,
so I would say 4 to 5 hours a week
What other interests do you have D?
I’m an enthusiastic gardener and grow a lot of my own vegetables. I now have two gardens to look after since my son and his wife moved to the same village as me.
I’m also a keen golfer. I used to be a fairly decent player, these days I’m not quite as good, but I still enjoy it. I organise a friendly golfing group of more than 20 people every Friday at my local golf club.
Lately, I’ve somehow become the family’s DIY expert, spending plenty of time decorating and repairing my son’s new home.
I enjoy walking, both with my dog Henry and on my own. Henry’s getting on a bit now, so he can’t manage the longer walks, but I still love getting out into the countryside.
I’m partial to the odd beer, and I love travelling. I’ve just returned from an amazing trip to Sri Lanka, which was a fantastic experience.

Not at all. The reply was perfect. No wonder you don't have so much time for street. Life's too short for DIY, so I'd be sacrificing that given a chance. You need to come up with a cunning plan. 😈 Perhaps stage a ladder fall that then requires a lot of street walking to get your hip going again?
during the weekdays pretty much not at all, need to get better about that. on the weekends i try to get out for at least 2 hours min each day, but aim for 4+ hours.
Very variable. I guess 2 hours currently on street photo shooting. However I can have days when 4-5 hours is common. If in a beautiful location may combine landscape with street (beach) photography. Spring and summer usually increases my shoot hours. However if it snows (rare where I live these days) I'll make a special effort to go out shooting for as long as possible.
I had been doing 3-4 hours , mostly during lunchtimes. I would take my camera and walk for an hour and eat at my desk and its harder to find the time at weekends due to having a toddler
Time with your kid is the most precious thing you will ever have Marco and it will go really fast. Practice your photography skills on him and there will be loads of time for street when he leaves the nest. Best wishes.
