UK Home Office: "Do not photograph or film
I thought things were bad on this side of the pond... According to a Home Office poster intended for asylum seekers: "In the UK, you should not take pictures or videos of someone without their permission. This includes taking pictures or videos in public places like streets or parks." The advice isn't consistent with UK law. In London in 2023, I ran away from a security guard who chased me for over a mile after I photographed some folks. I couldn't believe his tenacity. In the U.S., security guards don't get paid enough to care that much. In any case, stuff like this adds to unnecessary confusion. This flyer is misleading, creates a double standard, and could potentially put a target on photographers of color on the streets as well as others
