Shooting for the assignment
I have been shooting to the assignments for last year and have now had all of the following experiences… I’ve found a submission worthy photo early in the month. I’ve also had the shooting go right down to wire and I’ve found something at the eleventh hour. Or lastly I’m finding a bunch of nearly worthy candidates that I might settle for, but I feel I can do better. Anyone else? I think I prefer the last option. Anyway here’s a couple of blue that won’t make the cut. This month I’ve found a keeper early.

Yes, I have been struggling. Everything blue I find, the photo is obvious. I'm not having much luck. Like your last image very much!
Ben, making a selection for such a theme should, in my opinion, rest most heavily on inflection. That is, what role does the color blue play in the impact of your picture? Not just the color’s prevalence but its emotional weight. Treat it as you might an editorial assignment from a magazine editor. “Ben, we need a cover image for next month’s “BLUE” issue by 7/31 !”
So which of those images, if any, NEEDS blue for it success?
Also remember…there’s no prize. No jury. You’re just pleasing a couple of young men in Britain for the fun and educational experience of it 😆.

Thank you @ken_tanaka - but maybe you misread my post? I was not asking for advice about this assignment. It was more a general post about how people feel about their progress in any given months assignment. I was wondering if others have the same 3 or more experiences? Also, these 5 are not in anyway successful Blue assignment shots for me, they are simply some shots that might have been helping me focus my eye for looking for the blue image that I do like. Did I mention a Prize?

I feel like using the sky in this assignment is cheating (by my definition.) But it fits the assignment, so I may use one where the sky is the dominant blue. ;-)
