Your earliest Street photos?
Hi All, I'm in the process of archiving some photos and discovered ones I took in the mid 1990s in Manhatten, New York. It would be interesting to hear about when and where you took some of your earliest Street photos ( I appreciate this is largely determined by our ages as many group members will be considerably younger ). ?
I think my first street photos were taken during a trip to Venice in 2007 or 2008, at a time when I was just beginning to take an interest in photography. Back then, I knew absolutely nothing about street photography, and it didn't really interest me much, either. I was doing street photography without even realizing it.
In the end, if the photos turn out well, it doesn't really matter. And the main thing is to have fun. 🙂
I consider this my first street photo, Sydney 2013, It would be a few more years before I started street in earnest or was even fully aware of the genre, but this obviously caught my eye
I have some photos I took on my grandma's camera from that time but they are mostly of the floor
Probably this, taken on my Nexus phone back in 2017
March 2012, on a research trip to Malmö using my phone. The bug bit but would be over 12 years before I got my first proper camera.
I recently found an SD card from a 2014 photowalk in Manchester when I first got given an old DSLR to try and learn photography. I can see now a few of them have a street photography element to them but had no idea what that was at the time. I'd say probably 2019 would be the first time I actively went to shoot 'street' stuff after discovering it online and buying a book.

One of my earliest and favorite street photos was taken at U2’s free concert on November 11, 1987, at Justin Herman Plaza, in San Francisco. I got a monochrome side shot of Bono arching backwards to tag the Vaillancourt Fountain sculpture with, “Rock and Roll Stops Traffic.”
This became an infamous event that also appeared in U2’s 1988 rockumentary, “Rattle and Hum.”

I think my first street photos were taken between 2010-2012. Which would’ve made me like 15ish. Likely taking the bus to the downtown areas in OC SoCal. Back then, my only exposure to street was Eric Kim and Kai in the Digital Rev era. The only camera I had was a Nikon D3x. I was definitely noticeable on the street with that monster SLR in my hand. These are the only 3 I can find on my old hard drive.
