Intent
Behind the frame
- What I was trying to do:
- I wanted to photograph the patterns created by strong sunlight and shadows just outside my front door.
- What worked:
- The contrast gives the photograph its structure. The chevron provides a strong visual anchor, while the overlapping shadows make the composition less predictable.
- What I'd do differently:
- I did consider making the composition more readable, giving the viewer a clearer sense of the space. But when I saw the image through the viewfinder, I loved the interplay of light, shadow and geometry. In the end, I decided to trust that instinct rather than make the photograph easier to decipher.
