I wanted to capture one of the main shopping streets in my local town in its best light, in both senses of those words, as well as a certain moment in time - in this case the opening of a new noodle bar (as denoted by the arch of red and white balloons). I thought it actually needed an extra element and was delighted when the young lady wearing the vibrant yellow jumper and headphones strode into a pool of light at exactly the right moment. I do a weekly photowalk with my brother in the town and despite it being so familiar I always find that it can continue to throw up something new or surprising for me to photograph.
What worked:
I liked how all the different elements and colours felt like they worked together.
What I'd do differently:
Perhaps waited a fraction of a second longer to see if anyone had emerged in the foregrounded doorway and beneath that arch of red and white balloons but maybe that's being a bit greedy!
