Intent

Behind the frame

What I was trying to do:: I keep coming back to this image from a trip to Erica in Scily last year. I'm not sure why I like it so much. Perhaps it just captures my image of the town. He just seems like a classic Italian restaurent owner, enjoying the morning with a quiet cigar. What I like is his gaze out of the image away from the visible alleyway. I took a second picture with him looking the other way, but it didn't seem to have the right appeal.
