Behind the frame
- What I was trying to do:
- A quick random shot as the sunlight burst through on this swimmer in Baden, Austria. I think I only made three shots of this (very happy to be photographed) woman.
- What worked:
- I love the rich burst of colourand the distorted detail in the blues.
- What I'd do differently:
- I was overwhelmed by the location - I should have spent more of the time I had with the amazing light photographing this one woman. Slow down Mike.

I *think this is my favourite this month (I know you're not supposed to say that!), it's perfect! Reminds me of David Hockney.

You are way too kind Simon. It was a very unexpected, random little shoot with a few minutes of amazing light in a beautiful location. And I love that you think of Hockney. He's my inspiration for just about everything. And I had brunch with him in a packed hotel restaurant in New York back in the 1990s (but that is totally another story).

I really love this picture. The Hockney vibes are real. As a swim coach, however, the kick leg position is giving me chills. The arm/head position is excellent however (pass it on if you meet her again) 😀
