Take a street photo where the subject is the colour blue.
The brief
Two of our most popular assignments have been The Colour RED, so let's shift to BLUE for this one (it also came very close to winning the last vote we held).
How can you use blue within your photograph? It can be the dominant element as a colour wash throughout the frame. It can be a small, powerful detail that ties the image together. Blue is everywhere, so it shouldn't be too hard to find. Maybe use this assignment as an excuse to take a trip to the seaside, an airshow, or Morocco's famous "Blue City".
This assignment is guest-edited by our friend Niall McDiarmid, a wonderful photographer, whose creative use of colour is on show in his new book available from RRB Books.
Issue #11 out now

“This is a Rockwell painting, surely. I remember when you posted it to dailies and being floored by it then, and i'm glad to see it here. It fit's the theme perfectly. The clouds rolling in. The man oblivious to them, while he's working away. Stunning image.” — Shane

“This feels like favouritism buddy, but I love this image. It reminds me of London in summer. People chilling in flats with no air con.” — Shane

“I don't know what's happening and i want to know more. That makes me love it. Surreal and emotive image with great use of blue and compimentary colours. And great use of flash.” — Shane
