So we thought we do a gear shift after the Black and White assignment and go for COLOUR for Assignment #25 π
What does that mean?
For this assignment, we want to see a street or documentary photograph where colour is the subject of the image - where colour is essentially leading the frame.
We're looking for the colours in your photograph to play a central role in composition or the story. This is a great chance to think differently about how you use colour on the street, and how to create harmony and contrast.
Tips for the assignment:
π¨ Hone in on colourful environments β Places like market stalls, shopfronts, construction hoardings or events
π Look for bold contrasts and repetition β Think complementary colours, vibrant colours and how to use them to form contrast in your photograph
π§ Think outside the box β Can you use colour to show a mood or feeling? Can a single colour dominate your frame and still tell a story?
π· Lean into post processing β Whether you shoot in RAW, JPEG or use film, pay attention to how your camera renders colour. Donβt be afraid to lean post processing or film simulations.
π‘ Light matters β Golden hour can saturate reds and oranges, while overcast days can tone down the vibrancy. Time of day can completely change the way colours behave.
