ICM Technique Question

Attempting to learn how to make photos similar to the style of @kyohnam on IG. He is very open about his settings, but I'm not clear how he moves his camera in shots similar to this one? If you are experienced with ICM work, I would love some advice on what to try.

In the photo you posted it looks like they have swiped the camera slightly up and right. The pattern the blur moves in is the direction the camera moved.

I would say it takes a lot of trial and error to find out how much to move the camera to get pleasing results.

Don’t you move the camera in the opposite direction to where you want the streak in the photo?

Watching his videos, it does seem to be what he is doing, but it's so quick, I can't be sure. He shoots in single shot mode, 1 - 2 seconds shutter speed. Follows his subject and then seems to do a quick camera movement at the end.

Interesting , looks a lot like the ‘pixel drag’ technique I’ve also seen recently, although that’s done in post

He is very generous with his method. Repeatedly says it's all done in camera. Seems like a genuine guy and after some experimenting this morning, I got a little closer. It's simply panning at a 1 second, ISO 100, highest aperture necessary. The flick of the camera at the end doesn't seem necessary. I think he was just lowering the camera. lol!

I guess an ND filter is a good idea here. Gives you more room to different appertures

Pretty sure he uses a ricoh which has the built in ND. Def want to be using an ND for this kind of stuff in daylight.

For these shots, he uses a Leica, maybe even a film Leica if you can believe it! And an ND filter. I've been combing over all his YT shorts to figure out his method.
