Recommandations for a manual M mount 35mm ?

Hi everyone, I shoot primarily 50mm (ZM planar) on a Leica SL2s but I'd like to incorporate more 35mm, would you have a recommendation ? I wouldn't mind something less clinical than the ZM.

Biggest thing I find with street is whether you're open to lenses with more rotation distance to the focus throw, or whether you'd rather stick to rangefinder oriented lenses with a tab and short throws. If you're OK with the former I'd recommend getting into pentax or minolta lenses. Love my cheap Pentax-M lenses

Since you mentioned "less clinical", I assumed you want something with character. Vintage Leica wouldbe the direction, although quite pricey.

Voigtlander offers some great options here for M-mount. I've personally used the Ultron 35mm f/2 and loved the soft feel of the images. It also offered a pretty close focus, beating the 35 Summicron I now shoot on.

Alternatively, Light Lens Lab offers some cheap options that I've heard from users are very comparable to vintage Leica glass.

I think it depends on the budget and what you find clinical. I had the 35mm Summilux FLE, which was very sharp but not clinical. I currently use the Voigtlander 35mm f1.5 Nokton, which is more clinical in my view. The Voigtlander 35mm f1.4 Nokton Classic may be a good choice or a remake of older Leica lenses by 3rd parties such as Mandler. Maybe have a look a the reviews by Matt Osborne, MrLeica.

How about the mandler? It’s quite small, less clinical than Zeiss lens and great price.

I love shooting my Nikon 35mm PC lens on my SL Type 601. Wide open it is soft on the edges and not clinical at all. Stopped down to f8 it is as sharp as I would want. I also have an inexpensive Pergear 35mm f1.4 L mount. Full of character wide open and decently sharp when stopped down. I do want to try and find a 35mm Minolta prime as I have had good luck with this brand.
