Apple's new AI Spacial Reframe tool
Has anyone else seen this? Such a bummer that anyone would think this is useful or exciting - just practice taking photos 😂 I'm glad the reaction on the intenernet has been entirely negative.
I watched the keynote last night and my heart broke a little when this came up. My current thoughts are that most people won't know it's there and won't bother "fixing" their poor compositions anyway. But in a couple of years when it is turned on by default... a whole skill goes out the window.
Combine that with live-photo's ability to already pick the best frame from a fast moving subject and we might be in for a general public that has even less appreciation for good photography than we already have.
Sad times.

The implementation in the article Josh linked doesn't look great right now but I'm sure it'll improve.
Ha yeah thankfully it’s currently awful.
Hate this - as all the smartphone companies continue to ‘embrace’ AI, I feel the need for dedicated cameras will be even greater.

I dunno, feels like the same theme everywhere I turn: there’s convenience and there’s craft. And those are not the same.
Give me craft any day, but no shade on those who choose convenience.
Honestly wondering if these companies are now just throwing in some janky AI tools to stir up some online discourse - in which case, they got me 😂
