Who are the photographers who inspire you, and why For me, Martin Parr is a big influence. I love his sharp wit, his strong sense of place and time, and the way he captures Britain so brilliantly. His ability to find humour and the absurd in everyday life is wonderful, and I love the way he uses colour. Who inspires you, and what is it about their work that you admire
Sheron Rupp is up there for me for sure, and Sage Sohier.
Great choices, never heard of Sharon Rupp, one to discover, and Sage Sohier 1980’s surburban America is fantastic , I was sort of aware of her
Really nice to hear the non obvious photographers
For someone living in Australia, besides Trent Parke… I’d have to say check out Julian Kingma’s work. He’s one of the best portrait guys around. Love his particular style of underexposed raw gritty look of Australian life.
Another Aussie would be David Cossini. I would describe him as the Hunter S Thompson of documentary style photography. Living with his subjects who are often on the fringes of society.
