Along Mumbai’s shoreline, men work together to manoeuvre enormous Ganesha idols from temporary platforms into the Arabian Sea. The task demands strength, coordination and patience, carried out amid crowds and choppy water. For those involved, this labour is also an act of devotion, bringing a long journey for the idol through the city to its final destination at sea.
